Former Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder is one of two candidates to replace Sandro Wagner as Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant.

Kicker reported on Friday that the German Football Federation (DFB) has named Benjamin Hubner and Alfred Schreuder as potential candidates to take over from Sandro Wagner as Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant this summer.

Wagner has confirmed he เว็บพนันออนไลน์ UFABET สมัครง่าย โปรโมชั่นมากมาย will step down as Nagelsmann’s assistant after the Nations League campaign, so the DFB will have to look for his replacement, with Hubner and Schreuder among the top candidates.

Hubner played for Hoffenheim when Nagelsmann was in charge, and the 35-year-old former defender. Who ended his playing career at the end of the 2021-22 season, knows the 37-year-old’s approach well. He now works as part of current Hoffenheim manager Christian Ilzer’s backroom staff.

Schreuder, 52, is more experienced, having previously managed Twente, Hoffenheim, Club Brugge, Ajax, Al Ain and Al Nassr in the UAE. As well as working as Nagelsmann’s assistant at Hoffenheim and Ronald Koeman’s assistant while at Barcelona.

The DFB are actively working on Wagner’s replacement as the former striker’s decision to leave the national team at the end of the Nations League did not catch them by surprise.

Nagelsmann’s new assistant will be in position for the beginning of Germany’s 2026 World Cup qualification campaign when they play Slovakia and Northern Ireland in the September international break.
