Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa has revealed his desire to play in the Champions League next season after scoring in a 2-0 win over Spurs that moved them back into the top five.

Villa made no mistake with a crucial win as they beat Spurs 2-0 at home. With goals from Ezi Konsa and Boubacar Kamara, taking their tally to 66 points. Overtaking Manchester City and into the UEFA Champions League places once again.

“We practice set pieces almost every day, we have a set piece coach and we practiced specially on corners. And that’s how it turned out,” Konsa said after the game.

“We’re knew we had to score early in the second half and give the fans something to cheer about,”

“We’re knew today we had to win. We wanted to play in the Champions League again. We knew Tottenham had the (Europa League) final on Wednesday, but we had to stay focused and win.”

“The Champions League is a competition you want to be in. And it was the main goal for us in the final.”

For the final match, Villa will visit Manchester United on Sunday, May 25.

Konsa and his teammates will now head into the final day against Manchester United next weekend. Hoping to apply pressure on the teams above them with another three points to end the season.

He said: “We’ve just been taking it game by game and we haven’t looked too far ahead.

“With the Bournemouth game, we had to go there and win, and we did that. Straightaway, the focus was on today.

“We’ll rest now and focus on United. We know it’s not in our hands. But we’re going to do all we can to get into the top five.”
